September and October are a bit of a hidden gem in Falmouth. Think crisp sea air, skies that stretch forever, blustery coastal walks, leisurely lunches and plenty of time to potter, explore and enjoy yourself. The pace is slower and Falmouth is looking rather lovely. In fact, we think it’s a pretty perfect time for a little Cornish escape and there is still lots going on.
The Falmouth Book Festival 2026
The Falmouth Book Festival returns 18–25 October 2026, bringing a brilliant week of books, ideas, stories and conversation to the town.
With Ruby Wax, Charlie Higson and Patrick Gale among this year’s headline names, there’s plenty to tempt book lovers to Falmouth for a few days.
And while you’re here, why not make the most of it?
Stay at Chelsea House and you’ll have the perfect base for your literary escape. Spend the day dipping into festival events, then head out for a bracing coastal walk, browse Falmouth’s independent shops or find somewhere delicious for lunch.
